BACKSTORY: Below you will find photographs of composition, vinyl, and porcelain dolls from The Ideal Toy Company and the Danbury Mint that represent Shirley Temple, the famous child star from the 1930's. Now that she has passed away, it will be interesting to see if new Shirley Temple dolls will continue to be produced; the most recent one was by the R. John Wright company who produced a few limited edition Shirley dolls crafted of felt in 2019. They were not a huge success, due to their cost and the difficulty of the medium of felt in capturing Shirley’s charm.
