BACKSTORY: I’ve only visited Dallas once, which was over a whirlwind weekend, so I can’t really say I have a lot of strong recommendations, other than Scat Jazz Lounge. Grapevine, Texas was a fun detour. It is known for several wineries and its historic downtown. City Hall, the Grapevine Convention and Visitor's Bureau, public library, and recreation center are on Main Street in addition to many small businesses.
