BACKSTORY: “Will & Grace” (September 21, 1998 — May 18, 2006) was a groundbreaking situation comedy that ran on NBC with two openly gay characters. Eric McCormack played Will Truman, a gay man, who lives with his best friend, Grace, played by Debra Messing. Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally portrayed Jack and Karen, the best friends of Will and Grace. The series ran for 8 seasons, ending in 2006. A revival series ran for 3 seasons (2017-2020), with the same characters, although some of the plot lines from the original series were ignored/changed.
