DAVELAND > Disneyland > Frontierland > Critter Country
BACKSTORY (1972—Present): Originally The Indian Village, the four-acre land became Bear Country in 1972, themed to the forests of the Pacific Northwest and home to the Country Bear Jamboree Show. The Country Bear Jamboree debuted on March 24, 1972, and featured 18 Audio-Animatronic performers. The popular show ran until September 9, 2001. Bear Country also featured "The Golden Bear Lodge," a high capacity restaurant overlooking the Rivers of America (presently named "Hungry Bear"), the "Mile Long Bar" refreshment center, Teddi Barra's "Swingin' Arcade," trading post, and various merchandise shops. Bear Country was renamed to Critter Country in 1988 in anticipation of Splash Mountain’s January 1989 opening. In 2003, the Country Bear Jamboree was replaced with The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Current Attractions & Restaurants include: Splash Mountain, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Harbour Galley, & Hungry Bear Restaurant.
